This is a piece I made this past summer. I used to hike in a state forest in Salem, CT where there were many of these orange salamanders living under the rocks and leaves. They were really quite cute. Soon, a highway will be built right smack dab in the middle of this forest. I hope these little guys make it...I painted this on a piece of oak. I am lucky enough to be able to get small scrap pieces of oak for free. If you can get a hold of a piece of oak, I highly recommend painting on it. It is a wonderful surface, especially for glazing.
